Activities at Costa Rica Jungle Paradise
Activities in Tambor are almost as abundant as the wildlife. There is all the latest in ecotourism as well as fabulous beaches, tropical weather, sporting activities including golf, fishing, the latest zip lining, and of course all sorts of water sports all within easy reach of the villa.
Listed below are descriptions of activities we've experienced or heard rave reviews about. Any of these activities can be arranged up in advance or on site with our grounds manager.

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling the Tortuga Islands
Very close to Tambor are the Tortuga Islands where you can admire the abundance of maritime life on a diving or snorkeling tour in crystal clear water. Isla Tortuga looks like everything you have ever expected of a tropical island: white sand beach, swaying palms and turquoise waters with average visibility of 30 - 50 ft. These waters are home to yellowtails, puffers, giant parrotfish, spotted eagle rays, turtles, stingrays, angel fish, octopus, sea horses, starfish, frog fish and many species of eels.

Canopy Tours a.k.a Zip Lining
Just a short drive from Tambor in the heart of the tropical forest of Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, you can soar through the treetops on some of the most thrilling canopy zip lines in Costa Rica. This spectacular eco-adventure is one of the best way to explore one of the most beautiful and complex biological communities on earth. The canopy ride, crosses a mile of cable, set on 9 platforms high in the rain forest. Professional tour guides ensure safety as well as a breathtaking experience.

Golf
Los Delfines Golf & Country Club is located in Tambor, a short drive from the villa. It is set on an exclusive bay on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, at the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. The nine hole course measures at 6144 yards from the back tees. Carts, rental clubs and special packages are available.

Sportfishing
World class sport fishing is easily accessible in Tambor. We can arrange for professionals to take you to the best fishing sites in the Pacific ocean or in the Gulf of Nicoya. Since most of the Costa Rican sportfishing companies follow a 'catch and release' policy, the variety of fish off the coast and inland is truly amazing, including sailfish, blue marlin, striped marlin, roosterfish, tuna, snapper, and wahoo, tarpon and snook. You can also go fishing on a panga, a small traditional fishing boat.

Wildlife Reserves
The Curu Wildlife Reserve is very close by and provides the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife including scarlet macaws, capuchin and spider monkeys. The Cabo Blanco National Park is about an hours drive and is a Cabo Blanco is a marine bird sanctuary for species like brown pelicans, frigate birds, and brown boobies, as well as an important habitat for animals, such as white-tailed deer, three species of monkeys, agoutis, coyotes, wild cats.

ATV's & Wave Runners
If you have a need for speed and off-road driving, an ATV is the adventure for you. Enjoy riding up and down winding mountain roads while surrounded by the diverse tropical vegetation of the rainforest. If the water is more your thing, take out a wave runner and enjoy the beautiful islands, species, history, and coastline of Tambor, with safety and respect for the environment, in an exotic and thrilling jet ski experience.

Ultralights
Take to the skies in an ultralight (tandem: pilot and one passenger) to explore the mountains as well as the coastline. Flights are slow and stable so you have the unique opportunity to observe waterfalls, secluded sandybeaches, mountainous primary forests with a dense canopy, mangrove swamps and more.

Hiking
From the mole at the southern end of Tambor you can hike around the tip of the bay. Follow the small trail and you will get to a majestic waterfall with natural pools in the sea. Go early in the morning and you may see monkeys, coatis, anteaters, deer, agoutis and possibly even a mountain lion or jaguarundi. A primary attractions for many naturalists are the birds, of which some 850 species have been recorded - ranging from Parrots and Toucans to long-Tialed Manakin and Hummingbirds.

Beach
Situated alongside Tambor Village is a 5 mile long, white, sandy beach, Playa Tambor. The shallow waters are exceedingly calm so it is perfect for swimming, and snorkeling. It is frequented mostly by locals on weekends and is almost empty on most days which make it ideal for long walks along the shore.
