About Tambor
Tambor is a quiet little village that still retains the traditional Costa Rican way of life. There is a small local grocery store and several casual restaurants. The local area offers many activities from sailing, beachcombing, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, water skiing, parasailing, fishing, and surfing at the beach to hiking and bird watching in the rainforests - the possibilities are infinite. Tambor beach is frequented mostly by locals on weekends and is almost empty on most days which makes it ideal for long walks along the shore.
Nearby
The Curu Wildlife Reserve is nearby and provides the opportunity to see additional wildlife including capuchin moneys (white face). The Cabo Blanco National Park where you can find everything from monkeys to sloths is about an hours drive.
Very close to Tambor are the Tortuga Islands where you can admire the abundance of maritime life on a snorkeling tour in crystal clear water. The Tortuga islands look like all you have ever expected of a tropical island: white sand beach, swaying palms and turquoise waters.
From the mole at the southern end of Tambor you can hike around the tip of the bay. Follow the small trail and you will get to a majestic waterfall with natural pools in the sea.
